Paranoid meth-makers destroy Florida home after smoking drugs

Dailey News, August 28, 2014
Three meth-smoking Floridians wrecked a home where they were making the drug after the trio hallucinated an attack from unknown outside forces, police said.
The bizarre incident began after a newspaper delivery person heard screaming early Monday morning from the second floor on a home along Little Dothan Road in Sneads, a rural community in Jackson County, Fla. near the Georgia border.
Inside, say police, were Matthew McDaniel, 30, Damian Hines, 21, and Madison Douglas, 18, all of whom yelled out the window that they’d been shot and were being held hostage, cops said.
In their fight against imaginary intruders, the deranged druggies had thrown everything - including the kitchen sink - out a window: sheetrock, wood, pieces of guns and even a toilet, police said.
The trio even armed themselves with a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle and fired at least 40 rounds from inside the house, police said.
Once police arrived after the 3:45 a.m. 911 call, the trio refused to leave the home because “they feared the attackers might still be in the bottom floor of the house,” police said.
Cops eventually eased the three outside and were told the trio had been “attacked by several persons but could not provide any descriptions."
“The female reported that she had been stabbed and the knife broken off in her abdomen, “ police said. “Further investigation revealed that she only had a superficial scratch to her abdomen. Furthermore, all of the injuries received by the individuals were self-inflicted while attempting to fight off the attackers.”
But cops later learned there never were any attackers and inside the home, learned the source of the trio’s paranoia. Remnants of a “shake and bake” meth lab were recovered, as was finished meth, products used to make it and paraphernalia to smoke the drug, police said.
The three had done more than $10,000 worth of damage to the home, police said.
The hallucinating trio was taken to the hospital before going to jail, the Dothan Eagle reported.
Each of the three is charged with possession of meth, attempt to manufacture meth, felony criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.
